History

Ruby Copeman was born in Aylmer on December 28th, 1878, moved to St. Thomas in 1883, and lived in St. Thomas ever since. She worked at Robert Marshall Anderson's Department store for 50 years, from 1896 to 1946. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for many years. When the Young Women's Christian Association opened its doors om October of 1902, she was the youngest member on the Board of Directors. And she became an active member of various clubs, church groups and societies in the city. She died in 1985, at the age of 106, and is buried in the St. Thomas Cemetery.
