The fonds mostly consists of survey reports and other economic studies for Thamesford, between the years 2008 and 2014, that were created by or for the Thamesford Taking Action Group (T’TAGG) for which Marie Keasey served as Director.

Le fonds Adrienne et Ricardo de la Riva témoigne de leur implication sociale dans la communauté sudburoise et de leurs nombreuses réalisations tant sur la scène politique, qu’au niveau social, culturel et récréatif.

Bien que ce fonds d’archives contienne peu de dossiers concernant la pratique médicale de Ricardo de la Riva, on y retrouve quelques dossiers de l’hôpital St Joseph et l’hôpital général qui traitent surtout des horaires de garde ou encore de changement des structure au sein du centre hospitalier.

La grande majorité des dossiers de ce fonds d’archives proviennent de comités, associations ou groupements de la ville, lorsque Ricardo de la Riva était conseiller municipal. En effet, composés de procès-verbaux, correspondance, rapports, budgets, cartes et plans, les dossiers non seulement nous renseignent sur le rôle que les de la Rivas ont joué respectivement dans les comités sur lesquels ils siégeaient, mais documentent aussi plus de vingt-huit ans de vie politique, sociale et culturelle à Sudbury, et les changements et l’évolution de la ville pendant cette période.

Au-delà de dossiers sur la francophonie tant pour ce qui est de l’éducation, des activités culturelles que des services offerts par la ville, de nombreux dossiers traitent de projets soumis et réalisés ou non en ce qui concerne le développement économique, les transports routiers, le patrimoine architectural et de l’aménagement urbain et les différents services offerts aux citoyens de la ville, tant par la municipalité que par les associations, regroupements et organismes.

En effet, les dossiers du Musée du moulin à fleur témoignent des activités de ce musée, de son administration mais aussi des partenariats avec d’autres organismes ou groupements du quartier et des projets communs réalisés. Mentionnons aussi la documentation exhaustive sur les silos du moulin à fleur, leur historique, les projets de restauration et d’utilisation de ceux-ci.

Les dossiers de correspondance des concitoyens de la circonscription représentés par de la Riva, ainsi que la correspondance avec les employés de la ville et les suivis des dossiers témoignent de l’importance qu’il apportait à chaque lettre reçue, mais avant tout nous renseignent sur les préoccupations des citoyens de cette circonscription.

De nombreux dossiers composés de rapports, études, coupures de presse, plans d’ingénierie documentent le réaménagement routier dans la ville, et tout particulièrement en ce qui concerne le centre-ville et le quartier du moulin à fleur.

Il est en de même pour le centre-ville. Les différents rapports, études, plans d’architecture, procès-verbaux de comités documentent les différentes interventions et changements en ce qui a trait à son développement économique, sa revitalisation, la rénovation des immeubles, les problèmes de stationnement. De nombreux projets tel que la bibliothèque municipale, l’établissement d’un centre culturel, la possibilité d’un nouvel aréna, la venue d’un casino au centre-ville sont très bien documentés, et nous renseignent sur la position de Ricardo de la Riva en ce qui concerne ces projets.

Les procès-verbaux, motions, notes, propositions de budgets et autres documents du Conseil municipal de la ville nous renseignent sur le fonctionnement du Conseil, les différentes lois et règlements votés mais aussi sur sa structure interne et les liens avec les différents paliers gouvernementaux. Plusieurs notes manuscrites et lettres d’opinion de Ricardo de la Riva donnent un aperçu de ses positions et de sa vision pour la ville. Le fonds d’archives contient de nombreux dossiers de différents comités de la ville. Pour n’en nommer quelques-uns, le comité du zonage, le comité de planification et du développement, le comité de l’ingénierie, sont documentés par plusieurs dossiers tout comme le ‘Sudbury Airport Review Committee’. On peut aussi y retrouver une documentation assez volumineuse sur l’aménagement de Junction Creek et les plans d’améliorations communautaires pour différents quartiers de la ville, et plusieurs dossiers sur l’environnement provenant entre autre de l’Office de protection de la nature du district du Nickel (OPNDN). Mentionnons aussi plusieurs dossiers contenant des informations sur l’historique de bâtiments de la ville et de leur restauration ou valeur patrimoniale.

Les activités de Ricardo de la Riva au sein de la ligue Junior de soccer sont également bien documentés.

The records of the Sudbury Planning Board/Junction Creek fonds attest to the feasibility study for a park at Junction Creek. Although not complete, the records document the development of the project by the Sudbury Planning Board. The maps and drawings depict the site in 1964. The accompanying records give insight on the elements considered in the planning of the project.

Margaret Phillips began her career in municipal recreation, and became an advocate and activist for feminist and social justice issues. She was a founder of the Northern Woman's Bookstore, an executive director of the Lakehead Social Planning Council, and on the board of directors of Inter Pares, among other work.

The United Steelworkers of America (USWA) Timmins Office fonds attests to all activities, realizations, battles, struggles and achievements of the Union in the area. Although the fonds contains very few records from the first years of its presence in the regions of Timmins and Kirkland Lake, it still attests to the significant role the Union played in the area. Informing of the staff representatives’ responsibilities and services provided to the Locals, the USWA Timmins Office fonds also illustrates the different administrative functions of the Office.

In fact, some records, such as charters, by-laws, nomination forms, vote ballots and procedures for election, are indicative, not only of the process of affiliation of Locals to the USWA, but also of their duties. Minutes books, correspondence, financial statements and due journals give a better sense of understanding of the Timmins Office’s governing role. It also documents the coordination and administration of Locals’ activities. The fonds contains records in regard to the role of the Office with the Locals under its responsibility.

The USWA Timmins Office fonds also contains records in regard to tasks involved with the administration of the spaces and properties owned by the Union. Minutes of the Building Committee, appraisals and plans illustrate management, renovation and maintenance activities but also attest to their patrimonial value. Other records are indicative of the active involvement of the staff and Locals’ representatives, both in the social and political spheres. Plaques, correspondence and photographs, are testimonies not only of the Union’s participation to the erection of memorials for miners and the organization of the Day of Mourning, but also of the support to social groups such as Victims of Mining Environment and local food banks. Moreover, correspondence files and briefs attest to the lobbying efforts with the provincial and federal governments in regard to labour legislations, more specifically in the Health and Safety field. Some records are indicative of the Union’s official identification over the years; many artefacts, leaflets and newsletters bearing the USWA logo attest to the promotion of the Union and its public image. Booklets and other material published by the Union inform not only of the duties and responsibilities of staff positions, but are also indicative of the USWA’s role in educating and training its staff and members. A large number of documentation attests to battles and disputes involving the Union against the membership or the companies. Correspondence and related documents in regard to the merger of IUMMSM and USWA, are also included.

Certification and membership files, including seniority lists, organizer’s report and OLRB forms, are indicative of the organizing activities and development of membership as well as the process of affiliation to the USWA. These documents also inform of jurisdictional disputes against other unions. Numerous correspondences, union-management meeting minutes, policies and procedures attest to daily negotiations between the staff representatives and the companies in regard to the protection of the membership’s working conditions. Also, a large number of notes, proposals, memos, amended articles and agreements outline the process of collective bargaining. These files are quite complete and cover a long period of time. Moreover, incentive agreements, correspondence and job descriptions contained in the layoff files inform of the different steps of a company closure and measures put in place to encourage training and rehabilitation of employees. Also, the USWA Timmins Office fonds well documents the creation and implementation of procedures and legislations to protect the members from health and safety hazards. Minutes of Joint Health and Safety committees, inspection reports and documentation illustrate the commitment of staff and Locals’ representatives to work with the companies in order to provide a safe working environment.

The Housing Resource Centre (HRC) fonds consists of correspondence, memorandums, minutes, financial reports, press releases, news clippings, government documents, personnel files, and statistical reports.

The fonds attests to the different activities and realizations of the organization. It also informs us of the housing and accommodations of the Sudbury regional municipalities during the period of the HRC's activity, as well as the needs of the community in these areas. Further importance is given to the financial and organizational struggles of non-profit and non-governmental organizations throughout the 1990s, as well as changes in government programs. The HRC's initial mandate did not cover the advocacy and support activities that it would later undertake, but its frontline contact with homeless peoples allowed for observations on the cycle of homelessness in the context of North Ontario.

La collection contient les 19 numéros de la revue NorAct publiés entre janvier 1979 et novembre 1983. On y traite des défis économiques, environnementaux, politiques et sociaux auxquels font alors face les communautés nord-ontariennes.

Incomplete fonds which testifies to the activities of the Soroptimist Club of Sudbury including the conferences held by the club in Sudbury (as well as those of the parent organization), and the documents/procedural guides for members of the administration. Financial documents from a limited period are also included in the fonds.

Le fonds contient des documents textuels et photographiques relatifs à l’engagement de Roland Cloutier dans l’industrie nord-ontarienne du bois d’œuvre. On y retrouve de l’information concernant certaines des entreprises forestières ayant existé dans la région de Hearst et des renseignements à propos du Hearst Lumbermen’s Association et de l’Ontario Lumber Manufacturers’ Association. Le fonds comprend également des documents au sujet de l’entreprise Hearst Forest Management, de l’organisme Northern Ontario Development Corporation et de René Fontaine en tant que député et ministre dans le gouvernement ontarien. S’y greffent des rapports gouvernementaux, des études analysant la situation et les besoins de l’industrie du bois d’œuvre et de l’économie du nord de l’Ontario, des guides associés au travail en forêt et aux pratiques en vigueur dans l’industrie, des cartes géographiques illustrant les cantons de la région ainsi que des droits de coupe dans le nord-est ontarien.
