The Medical Health Officer was appointed by council. The job of the Medical Health Officer was to oversee public health concerns in relation to water, sewerage, safe handling of foods, and to document (record)the outbreak of disease. The Medical Health Officer headed the Board of Health and most likely reported to council on local health matters.

Series consists of 2 reports from the Medical Health Officer documenting the activities of this position. Included in this series are records discussing concerns over outbreaks of diseases and their possible origin.
