Administrative history
The Central Exhibition Committee was established in 1871 to oversee the construction of Guelph's exhibition grounds. It was composed of four aldermen, from whom a chairperson was elected, plus the mayor. It is believed that this committee was dissolved in 1879 and that the management of the Central Exhibition grounds passed to the control of other public buildings management committees.
Custodial history
The custodial history of these records, prior to their transfer to the Guelph Public Library archives, is not known or documented. These records were transferred by the City Clerk's office to the Guelph Public Library archives, probably in the 1980's.
