    Administrative history

The Board of Parks Management was created under by-law by the City of Guelph Council in 1909. Its six officers were elected by the voters of Guelph for either one, two, or three year terms according to the requirment of the Parks Act. The Council gave the Board power over trees, parks, boulevards, streets and public highways. The mandate of the board was to oversee the development of public greenspace, park use and urban beautification. The precise dates of creation and dissolution of this board are not known.
