Administrative history
A building was erected in 1882 by the Orange Lodge in Montague township which also served as a place for services. The land was donated jointly to the Orange Order and the Church of England by Mary Copeland. The cornerstone for a new stone church at North Montague was laid on July 9, 1907 and Bishop John Charles Roper consecrated Christ Church, North Montague on June 10, 1915. In 1961, the hall was donated to Christ Church which had continued to be used for the Sunday School and as an Orange Hall. It was then used as a community and church hall. The centennial of the hall at Christ Church, Montague, originally the Orange Lodge, was celebrated in 1983-84. Montague has been in the two-point parish of Montague with Nolan's Corners since 1996.
