Administrative history
The Chemong Park Cottagers Association was founded in 1902. Mr T.H.G. Denne was elected its first president. The Association operated for a time then became dormant. In February 1920 another attempt was made to formally establish an Association. A meeting was held at the Empress Hotel in Peterborough on February 13, 1920 to re-establish the Association. The effort was pushed by Alex Elliott, original founder of Chemong Park. The Association sponsored a popular annual regatta on Chemong Lake, dealt with issues of interest to cottagers such as garbage collection, property taxes and water quality.
