Administrative history
The Canadian Guernsey Breeders' Association was organized in 1905, and incorporated under the Live Stock Pedigree Act on November 29, 1905. The organisation has six main functions, including: keeping a record of breeding and origin of all pure bred Guernsey cattle; establishing breeding standards and a system of registration; protecting and assisting those engaged in breeding pure bred Guernsey; supervising the industry to prevent, detect, and punish fraud; compiling and furnishing industry statistics; and engaging in all activities necessary to fulfil the above functions.
The Association is run by an executive committee elected from the Board of Directors at the annual meeting that consists of: Honorary President, President, Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary-treasurer, Registrar and Auditor. The Directors also have the power to appoint special committees as is warranted.
