1 Wing Headquarters supports the Commander of 1 Wing who has operational command and control over five Tactical Helicopter Squadrons and five separate detachments with geographical locations ranging from Gagetown, NB to Edmonton, AB, with an approximate total of 1075 personnel in 2007. The Headquarters coordinates and controls the movement of equipment and the careers and administration of members Wing wide. In addition, 1 Wing Headquarters is its own Unit in every respect, with its needs being met internally and by the support base, CFB Kingston.
