Biographical history

C. Ian Kyer is a lawyer in Toronto, Ontario, with the firm of Faskin Martineau. Kyer is also a legal historian, who has written extensively on the history of the firm, as well as co-authored the book "The fiercest debate: Cecil A. Wright, the benchers, and legal education in Ontario, 1923-1957" [Osgoode Society, 1987].

Scope and content

Fonds consists of records documenting the life and research interests of C. Ian Kyer, in particular his work to collect and write about the history of his law firm, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, and its predecessor firms. These records include research materials, memoranda and correspondence pertaining to the Fasken firm and its lawyers. Also included in the fonds are a file pertaining to the activities of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Alumni Association and Kyer's involvement with its Executive Committee and alumni dinners in the early to mid-1980s, as well as a report on the diaries of Edward Marion Chadwick (1840-1921).
