      History

Burlington Public Library has long been aware of the importance of preserving the local history of Burlington and its surrounding areas. The library has accumulated various historical materials documenting the area's history and families in partnership with the Burlington Historical Society (BHS).

In 2005, Central library underwent a renovation project to include expanding the local history room, now known as the Burlington History Room. Prior to this new location, the local history collection was housed in the Galloway Room just outside BPL's reference department.
