Burgessville Pastoral Charge was established in 1925; formerly a Methodist Circuit. It included Burgessville, Zenda, Newark, and New Durham (ca. 1946). Zenda left the charge ca. 1946 and joined Salford Pastoral Charge.

Newark United Church was established 1925; formerly Methodist, it was part of the Burgessville Pastoral ChargeNewark Methodist Church was established 1872; it joined the United Church of Canada in 1925
