    Scope and content

This photograph shows the exterior of the Buchanan Memorial Chapel that was built for Acton's Fairview Cemetery. The chapel project was funded by Dr. Allan Buchanan in memory of his late wife Bertha who passed in 1975. Dr. Buchanan handed the keys and the ownership to Mayor Tom Hill after the opening and dedication ceremony. He wanted the chapel to function as a gathering space for anyone in the community of any denomination who visited the cemetery.
