Administrative history

The Brodie Club, founded in 1921, and held its first meeting at the Royal Ontario Museum. Intially the club was called the Toronto Naturalist’s Club but changed its name to the Brodie Club in 1923 when a separate club, the Toronto Field Naturalists was formed. Among the original members were J.H. Ames, H.H. Brown, E.J. Deacon, J. Edmonds, J.H. Fleming, A. Kay, C.W. Nash, E.V. Rippon, R.B. Thomson, and E.M. Walker. The Brodie Club continues to be an active club whose aim is to enhance its membership's interest in natural history.

Custodial history

The Brodie Club used to meet in the Royal Ontario Museum. When meeting space at the ROM was no longer available, the records of the club were given to the ROM Archives. Accruals are received from the Brodie Club.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of minutes of Brodie Club meetings, as well as related correspondence, news clippings, and photographs. Also included are copies of papers presented at meetings

Note: the club guest book is updated for each significant meeting. It was last updated for the 1100th meeting held March 14, 2017.
