      History

      Created from the purchase of "The British Standard and Cardwell Advertiser", the newspaper has been owned by Herb Bolton (1888 - ca.1892), Frank Leavens (ca. 1892 - 1941), Werden Leavens (1941 - 1976), Metrospan (1976 - ca. 1980), Bill McCutcheon (1980s), and Metroland (ca. 1990s - ). Circulation in 1941 was 1000 per week, and in 1988 was 24000 per week. While the Town of Caledon was created in 1974, the newspaper name didn't change until 2000.

      Throughout most of its run, the Enterprise has been a weekly newspaper. From 1997 to ca. 2014, the newspaper was published twice a week.
