The Department of biochemistry is under the Faculty of sciences until the construction of the new complex of the Faculty of Medicine in 1982 (Roger Guindon Hall). The Department then becomes part of the Faculty of Medicine. Meanwhile, a programme of biochemistry continues to be offered at the Faculty of Sciences awarding students an undergraduate B.sc. biochemistry.
