    Biographical history

    bill bissett (1939- ), poet, artist and musician, was born in Halifax and educated at the University of British Columbia (B.A. 1956). He founded Blewointment Press in British Columbia (1962) as a medium for young poets and published several of his own volumes under its imprint. bissett is the author of several books of poetry including, 'Fires in the temple,' (1966), 'Nobody owns the earth,' (1972), 'Medicine my mouths on fire,' (1974), 'Canada gees [sic] mate for life,' (1985), and 'Inkorrect thots,'[sic] (1992). bissett has had several one-man art exhibits in Vancouver, Toronto and London (Ont.). In addition bissett has recorded audio tape cassettes and audio discs including, 'Luddites,' (1988), 'Shining spirit,' (1989), and 'Luddites dreemin uv th nite,' [sic] (1991).

    The fonds mainly documents bill bissett's activities as poet, visual artist, musician, and editor of Blewointment Press. The fonds consists of the following series: Personal papers, 1948-1999; Professional papers, 1962-1992; Material by and about others, 1967-1992; Photographs, 1962-1992; Memorabilia; Sound recordings, 1967-1992.

    The original accession (1976-002) was a transfer of materials from Rare Book Room, Scott Library, which had been purchased from bill bissett between 1966-1974.
