Biographical history
Bertram Holford Ardagh was born in Barrie, Ontario, possibly in the year 1869. He was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School in 1890 and was called to the Bar in 1895. He practiced in Gravenhurst and Midland before moving to Toronto in 1902, where he practiced with the firm of Raymond, Ardagh and Honsberger. During the First World War, Ardagh served as Captain of the Osgoode Hall Rifle Association and was a Major with the 124th Battalion. Ardagh was appointed Secretary of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1922, a position he held until his death on 31 October 1933.

Fonds consists of records relating to Bertram Holford Ardagh in his role as Captain of the Osgoode Hall Rifle Association, a volunteer organization formed in 1914 for members of the legal profession who lacked military training. The fonds includes reports, membership lists, a newspaper clipping and a membership card.
