Belmont, Harrietsville - Mossley Pastoral Charge, also known as Belmont Pastoral Charge, was formed ca. 1970 when Harrietsville and Mossley churches left Avon Pastoral Charge to join Belmont Pastoral Charge. Belmont Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925 and originally included Belmont, Victoria, and Salem. Following the closures of both Victoria and Salem in the 1940s, Belmont amalgamated with Nilestown and Gore Pastoral Charge to form a three-point charge ca. 1950. The charge was known as Belmont, Nilestown and Gore Pastoral Charge as well as Belmont Pastoral Charge. The charge again became a single-point charge with the closure of Gore (ca. 1957) and Nilestown (ca. 1968).
Belmont United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. The Belmont Methodist Circuit was established ca. 1853 and included: Brath's, Traver's, Plymouth, Purdy's, Manning's, Wesley, and Plaxton's (Mossley). The Belmont church was built in 1856. The church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925 and formed part of Belmont Pastoral Charge. It is still an active congregation of the United Church.
Harrietsville - Mossley United Church was formed in 1978, when Mossley United Church and Harrietsville United Church amalgamated.It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.
Harrietsville United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. The Methodist Church in Harrietsville was established ca. 1862. A second church was built in 1896. The church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925 and formed part of Avon Pastoral Charge until ca. 1970 when it moved to Belmont Pastoral Charge. It amalgamated with Mossley in 1978 to form Harrrietsville - Mossley United Church.
Mossley United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. The Methodist Church in Mossley was established ca. 1860 with the building of a church on the third Concession, half a mile east of Mossley's Corners. A new church was constructed in 1911. The church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925 and formed part of Avon Pastoral Charge until ca. 1970 when it moved to Belmont Pastoral Charge. It amalgamated with Harrietsville in 1978 to form Harrrietsville - Mossley United Church.
Nilestown United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. Methodist services began in Nilestown in 1856. it joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. Originally it formed part of a pastoral charge with Grace United Church in London. It then became its own charge with Gore United Church ca. 1933. It closed in 1969. Much of the congregation moved to Belmont.
