Administrative history
The Beatty Mill was a saw-mill founded by the Beatty family of Thorold, Ont. around 1850. The mill was originally located near the tannery that William Beatty operated in Thorold, but was soon relocated to a spot directly across the canal, where the land was more level. In 1875, the mill was sold to Gillespie and McLean.
