    Administrative history

In 1924 the Directors of The Sarjeant Company decided to begin raising foxes and purchased a pair of Silver Black Foxes from a Mr. Gosling. A fox ranch was established and in 1926 Barrie Foxes Ltd. was formed. The operation grew until 200 foxes were owned, but was not particularly successful. In 1937, it was agreed that The Sarjeant Company would assume the losses of Barrie Foxes Ltd. The land was purchased from the company, and was sold in 1961.
