Administrative history
Even though this had been planned since the great reorganization of the University, in 1965, the Archives of the University of Ottawa are created in 1967. Indeed, resolution 67.51 of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors appoints the institutions first archivist, Paul Dumas, whose term begins on July first 1967. The role of the Archives is to provide a records management service to the University’s other administrative and academic units. The Archives store and manage semi-active records as well as records of permanent value. Also, the Archives are charged with promoting the history of the University of Ottawa, providing researchers with easy access to historical data concerning the institution.
