Ausable Pastoral Charge was formed on April 26, 2005 as Thedford-Parkhill-Lieury Pastoral Charge, and later re-named Ausable on January 19, 2006, with the amalgamation of Thedford Pastoral Charge and Parkhill-Lieury Pastoral Charge. It is still an active pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada and includes Thedford-Sylvan United Church and St. Paul's United Church in Parkhill.
Parkhill - Lieury Pastoral Charge was formed ca. 1931 when St. Paul's United Church and Jubilee United Church, both in Parkhill, amalgamateda. It included Lieury, which had been previously part of St. Paul's Pastoral Charge, Parkhill. It was also referred to as Parkhill Pastoral Charge. It disbanded in 2005.
St. Paul's United Church, located at 236 Hastings Street in Parkhill, was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. It amalgamated with Jubilee United Church in Parkhill ca. 1931. It formed a two-point pastoral charge with Lieury United Curch until Lieury closed in 2002. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.
Lieury United Church was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. It began as McGillivray Presbyterian Church ca. 1880. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. It amalgamated with St. Paul's United Church in Parkhill on Nov. 29, 2002.
Thedford United Church, located at 150 Pearl Street, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. The Thedford Methodist Church opened a new church in 1914. It would join the United Church of Canada in 1925 and form part of a two-point charge with Sylvan United Church. Thedford and Sylvan would amalgamate ca. 2004 to form Thedford-Sylvan United Church, using the Thedford church building. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.
