Presbyteries in The United Church of Canada are courts of the Church within geographical boundaries made up of a number of Pastoral Charges. Presbytery membership consists of ordained ministers of the Charges within the Presbytery, United Church lay persons, and corresponding members. A grouping of Presbyteries within a larger geographical area makes up a Conference, a higher court of the Church. The functions of the Presbytery include: overseeing Pastoral Charges within its bounds, including the designation of new Charges; receiving and disposing of petitions and appeals from lower governing bodies or courts; transmitting the above to higher bodies or courts; licensing lay persons qualified to serve in lay ministry; overseeing education of candidates for ministry; and supervision of members of the Order of Ministry within its bounds. Huron-Perth Presbytery was constituted on 1968 January 16 from the amalgamation of the Huron and Perth Presbyteries, both within the boundaries of London Conference. Huron Presbytery was established on 1925 September 16 within the boundaries of London Conference. It ceased to exist after the meeting of 1967 November 29. Perth Presbytery was established in 1925 within the boundaries of London Conference. It ceased to exist after the meeting of 1967 November 22.

In 1837 the group returned to Adelaide Street, but in 1840 they again left that congregation. In 1845 a new building was erected on the south side of Richmond Street, between Yonge and Bay streets, the Richmond Street Methodist Church (also considered the 'Cathedral' of Toronto Methodism, because many other churches can draw their roots from this congregation). From 1847 to 1871 the congregation was also known as Toronto West, and in 1872 as Toronto Second. In 1888 the congregation re-located to a building on McCaul Street, opposite Grange Road, and the congregation became known as New Richmond Street or McCaul Street Methodist Church. In 1905 the Toronto Conference reluctantly agreed to the congregation's request that the building be sold to pay of the mortgage.
