Earl Schweitzer Lautenschlager (1906-1973) was a United Church Minister in Ontario and Principal of Emmanuel College. He was born in Mannheim, Ontario, a fifth generation Canadian descended from German Lutherans who joined the Evangelical United Brethren Church. In his youth, he as appointed premier of the Older Boys' Parliament. Rev. Dr. Lautenschlager served at Magnetawan, Hagersville, St. Andrew's, Sudbury (twice), Elmvale and Howard Park United Church in Toronto, as well as serving as an Royal Canadian Air Force Chaplain overseas during World War II. In 1963, he was appointed Principal of Emmanuel College, a position he held until 1971, when he retired. Dr. Lautenschlager was married to the former Elizabeth Forbes.

Dr. Ralph Collins and Dr. Jean Collins were missionaries to Angola, Africa.

Ralph Collins was born in England, May 8 1892 and died September 30, 1970. He arrived in Canada at age 17 and received his B.A. from McGill in 1923 and his B.D. in 1925 from Congregational College. He would receive an honorary D.D. from the United Theological College in Montreal in 1946.

Dr. Collins was ordained in 1925 and arrived in Angola as a missionary in 1926 to take over from Dr. W.H. Sanders. In 1929 he married Miss Jean Gurd in Montreal and she worked alongside him in Angola. They served in Camundongo until 1947 when they were appointed to organize and direct Emmanuel Seminary in Dondi. Dr. Collins returned from Angola in 1958 and held various short positions as Retired Supply in Ottawa including Wesley, Permbroke, Larder Lake, Cardinal, South Mountain, Vars-Nava, Parkdale and Knox United.
Dr. Jean Collins was born in Montreal 1903 and received her English Degree from McGill University in 1925. She went on to complete her Masters and taught for four years in the English Department. She was an active member of the Church and engaged in the beginnings of the C.G.I.T. movement. After marriage to Dr. Ralph Collins she moved to Angola to work with him. After their retirement from Angola in 1959 she returned to Ottawa to work at Carleton University. Mrs. Collins was a nominee for Moderator in 1974 and in May 1975 she received an honorary D.D. from United Theological College in Montreal. Dr. Jean Collins dired March 29, 1994.

Fairbank United Church in North York was established in 1925; formerly Fairbank Methodist Church, which traces its origins to prayer meetings held at 'Needham's', the local name for the school house in Fairbank at that time. The church is located at 2746 Dufferin Street, between Eglinton Avenue West and Lawrence Avenue West. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Hope United Church in Toronto was established in 1925, formerly Hope Methodist Church. Founded in 1884 as Hope Methodist Tabernacle, it was located on the south side of Danforth Avenue near Main Street. In 1900, the congregation moved to a new building on the northwest corner of Danforth and Main. A replacement building on the same site was dedicated in 1930. The address of Hope United Church is 2550 Danforth Avenue. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Soon after its establishment in 1884, Hope Methodist became part of the Scarborough Circuit. By 1886, however, Hope constituted a separate circuit known as York Circuit. From 1890 to 1911, the circuit was known as East York Circuit and after that date, the name Hope was used consistently.

Metropolitan United Church in Toronto was established in 1925; formerly Methodist. It traces its origins to the first Methodist Church in the town of York (now Toronto); this church was erected in 1818 on King Street near present day Bay Street and was known both as York Methodist Episcopal Chapel and as King Street Methodist Episcopal Chapel. In 1832 the congregation moved to a new location on the southeast corner of Newgate Street (now Adelaide Street) and Toronto Street; this church was known as Newgate Street Methodist Episcopal Church, and later as Adelaide Street Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1868 the congregation acquired the property known as McGill Square on the north side of Queen Street, between Church Street and Bond Street. A temporary structure was immediately built there, and construction of a new building was also started on the same property. In 1872 the new building was dedicated as Metropolitan Wesleyan Methodist Church (the change from Methodist Episcopal to Wesleyan Methodist occurred in 1833). Three years after the union of 1925, Metropolitan United was badly damaged in a fire. It was immediately rebuilt, with some changes to the original 1872 design.It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Parkdale United Church in Toronto was established in 1925; formerly Methodist. It was founded in 1878 and was originally located on Queen Street West across from Close Avenue, just east of Lansdowne Avenue and Jameson Avenue. in 1886, a new building was opened on Cowan Avenue opposite Melbourne Avenue, southeast of Queen and Lansdowne. In 1890 the congregation moved again to a new building at the corner of King Street West and Dunn Avenue, just east of Lansdowne; this building was used until 1977 when it was demolished and replaced by a building at 177 Dunn Avenue that housed both the church and apartment units. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Burk's Falls Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925 as a single-point charge. Following the closure of Berriedale Pastoral Charge ca. 1954, it then included Katrine, Chetwynd, Ely and Berriedale, and then from 1968, following the dissolution of Magnetawan-Dunchurch Pastoral Charge, Magnetawan. In May 2013, the charge divided into two charges to form Trinity (Magnetawan) Pastoral Charge and Burk's Falls - Katrine Pastoral Charge.

Magnetawan - Dunchurch Pastoral Charge was formed in 1955 when Dunchurch and Magnetawan Pastoral Charges merged. It included Dunchurch, Magnetawan, Maple Island, Ahmic Harbour, Ardbeg, Sunny Slope, and Whitestone. The charge was discontinued ca. 1968 when McKellar - Dunchurch Pastoral Charge and Burk's Falls - Magnetawan Pastoral Charge were formed.
Burk's Falls United Church, located at 135 Yonge Street, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Trinity United Church, located at 141 Sparks Street in Magnetawan, was established in 1925, formerly a union church. The Methodist Church was established in the Magnetawan area in 1873 as part of the Rousseau circuit and then in 1874, it became its own circuit. A second church building was built in 1900. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. The church is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Knox Union Church in Dunchurch was established in 1925, formerly a union church. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada in Toronto Conference.
Katrine United Church, located at 52 Dog Lake Road in Katrine, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian. Katrine Methodist Church was built in 1892 and united with the Presbyterian Church in 1925 to form Katrine United Church. Until 1950, the congregation did not have reqular services. In 1950, the church reopened as part of the Berriedale Pastoral Charge. Five years later it joined the Burk's Falls Pastoral Charge. It is still an active congregation of the United Church.

Powassan Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly union. It includes Powassan and Chisholm. From 1955 to 1960, the charge also included Wasing.

Powassan United Church, located at 462 Main Street in Powassan, was established in 1925, formerly a union church. Presbyterians met in Powassan as early as 1877; however, it wasn't until 1888 the congregation had its own church, located on 12th Concession (current site of the fair grounds). It was named Knox Presbyterian Church. Powassan Methodist Church was established in 1885 and a church was built that year. A second church was built in 1892. On April 16, 1918, the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches decided to become a union church and services were held at the Methodist Church. A new church was constructed in 1926.It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Chisholm United Church, located at 1469 Chiswick Line, Powassan, was established in 1925, formerly a union church.The Methodists and Presbyterian united in 1918 to become the Union Church of Chisholm, meeting in the Methodist building. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Centennial United Church, located at 15 Strachan Street in Stratford, was established in 1968 when Centennial Evangelical United Brethren Church joined the United Church of Canada. The EUB Church was established ca. 1878 as an Evangelical Association Mission and a church building was constructed in 1889. This building was destroyed by fire in 1893. A new church was later constructed. In 1900, the church was named Centennial to commemorate the founding of the Evangelical Church. Centennial United Church disbanded and was sold in 2006.

Clute - Island Falls Pastoral Charge was formed ca. 1933 and included Clute, Island Falls, Fraserdale, Hunta, Abitibi Canyon, Burleyville, Eastford, Frederickhouse, Gardiner, Hi-Way School, McInnis, Porquis Junction. The pastoral charge was discontinued ca. 1964 when Clute apparently closed and Fraserdale, Island Falls and Little Long Rapids formed Fraserdale Pastoral Charge

Hunta - Clute Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly Methodist; it included Hunta, Clute, Eastford, Burleyville, Driftwood, Gardiner and Frederickhouse, and was also known as Clute Pastoral Charge before being discontinued ca. 1933, when Clute - Island Falls Pastoral Charge was formed, including Clute and Hunta.

Creighton - Lively Pastoral Charge was formed ca. 1952 when Naughton was added to Creighton Pastoral Charge, which included: Creighton Mine, O'Donnell, Waters Township, Lockerby, Minnow Lake, and Lively. The pastoral charge was discontinued ca. 1972 when Creighton Mine closed. Trinity United Church in Lively became a single-point charge at that time.

Fraternity United Church in Creighton Mine was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. The first Presbyterian services were held in 1899 in Creighton Mine. A church building was constructed and dedicated in 1916. The church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. It closed ca. 1972.

Trinity United Church, located at 217 Sixth Ave in Lively, was established ca. 1951. A church building was constructed in 1952, however, the congregation quickly outgrew the first building. A new building was constructed in 1954. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Silver Water Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly Presbyterian; it included Silver Water, Elizabeth Bay, Meldrum Bay, Mills, and Evansville. The pastoral charge was renamed Western Manitoulin Pastoral Charge ca. 1998 following the closure of the Mills congregation.

Elizabeth Bay United Church, located at 466 Morden- Noakes Road in Elizabeth Bay, was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. Presbyterian services were first held at the schoolhouse ca. 1896. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925 and on June 20, 1926, the church building opened, It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

St. Andrew's United Church, located at 34 Front Street in Meldrum Bay, was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. In 1897, both Anglican and Presbyterian services were held at the schoolhouse at Meldrum Bay. In 1920, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was built. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

St. Andrew's United Church in Silver Water, located at 20336 Highway 540, was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. The Presbyterians first held services at the Anglican Church in Silver Water on alternating Sundays until the church opened its own church building on July 2, 1899. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. It is still in active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Trinity United Church in Evansville was established ca. 1925, formerly Burpee Presbyterian Church. It was originally part of the Barrie Island Pastoral Charge, but moved to Silver Water Pastoral Charge ca. 1955. Howard Eaton United Church in Trout Mills on Highway 63 was established in 1953. In 1958, a church building was dedicated. It formed part of its own pastoral charge with Feronia and Phelps until the late 1950s when it became a two-part charge with Omond Memorial United Church in North Bay. It would later become a two-point charge with Pinewood United Church in North Bay. The congregation closed ca. 1974.

Champlain Trail Larger Parish was formed in 1971 and included Howard Eaton United Church in Trout Mills, St. Andrews-in-the-Pines United Church in Mattawa, Omond Memorial United Church in North Bay, Mount Pleasant Church in Rutherglen; it was discontinued in 1973.

St. Francis United Church was initiated as a ministry (or mission), when Walter Beecham began seeking new members for a congregation from his office above a pizza parlour in a Scarborough strip mall. While the resulting congregation was constituted as a church by the United Church in 1982, it never acquired a building, meeting instead in a local school, Sir Samuel Steele at 131 Huntsmill Blvd. In 1989 the congregation was disbanded.

St. George's United Church, located 35 Lytton Blvd. (Lytton and Duplex Ave.) Toronto, was originally a Presbyterian Church. In 1880 a Presbyterian mission in the Yonge and Eglinton area was opened, and Eglinton Presbyterian became a church in 1890. In 1909 a new building was opened at Yonge St. and St. Clements Ave . This building was purchased by the Toronto Public Library in 1924 and the present church was opened. Upon joining the United Church of Canada in 1925, the congregation took on the name, St. George's. In 1999 St. George's amalgamated with Eglinton United Church to form Eglinton - St. George's United Church in the old St. George's building.

Westennial United Church, located at 248 Ossington Street in Toronto, was created in 1988, bringing together Westmoreland United and Wesley-Grace-Carmen United. It closed in 1997.

Westmoreland United Church, at the corner of Westmoreland and Hallam streets, north of Bloor Street, in Toronto began as a Methodist mission of the Metropolitan Church in 1884. It was called the Dovercourt Mission (1886), and by 1892 the congregation had been entered into the rolls as Westmoreland. A fire in 1908 necessitated a new building which was completed in the following year. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925.

Wesley United Church, at 248 Ossington Street (at Dundas) in Toronto, was established in 1925, originally a Methodist Church. It began as a Methodist Church in 1876 and in 1921 it amalgamated with Crawford Methodist congregation in the Wesley building. In 1957 the church was destroyed by fire, and was rebuilt, opening in 1961. In 1983 it joined with Grace-Carmen to form Wesley-Grace-Carmen, and in 1988 that congregation joined with Westmoreland to form Westennial United Church.

Grace-Carman United Church in Toronto was established in 1966 upon the union of Grace United Church and Carman Memorial United Church. The new congregation used the Grace building, which was located at 1155 College Street, at the corner of College and Sheridan Avenue, between Lansdowne Avenue and Dufferin Street. In 1983, Grace-Carman united with Wesley United Church to form Wesley-Grace-Carman United Church in the Wesley building.

Grace United Church in Toronto was established in 1925; formerly College Street Methodist Church, and known originally as St. Clarens Avenue Methodist Church. The congregation originated in 1884 when Methodist meetings were first held in the former village of Brockton, newly annexed to the city of Toronto. In 1887, St. Clarens Avenue Methodist Church was opened;at the southwest corner of St. Clarens and Dundas Street West, near Lansdowne Avenue. At the turn of the century, a new site was purchased at the corner of College Street and Sheridan Avenue, between Lansdowne and Dufferin Street. In 1903, a Sunday school was opened at this location, and it soon became known as College Street Methodist Church, though the church building itself was not completed until 1908. At the time of union, College Street Methodist Church adopted the name Grace United Church. in 1966, Grace united with Carman United Church to form Grace-Carman United Church in the Grace building.

Carman Memorial United Church in Toronto was establshed in 1925 as Carman United Church (the designation 'Memorial' was added in 1947); formerly Carman Methodist Church, and founded originally in 1912 as Pauline Avenue Methodist Church. The church was located on Pauline Avenue, just north of Bloor Street West, between Lansdowne Avenue and Dufferin Street. In 1917, a new building was opened on the same site and was named in honour of Albert Carman (1833-1917), first General Superintendent of the Methodist Church (C.N.B.). In 1966, Carman Memorial united with Grace United Church to form Grace-Carman United Church in the Grace building.
