The Canada Creosoting Company operated from the 1920's to the 1960's.
General note
On Saturday, August 31, 1940 the Canada Creosoting Company was struck by a bolt of lightning which damaged the chimney. To learn more about this incident, see the Sudbury Star, September 3, 1940, p. 8.
General note
Creosote is an oil, dark brown in colour, made from distilled coal tar and used for preserving railway ties and hydro poles. In Ontario, it is only used today for railway ties.
