        Albert Hoffman Smith (1851-1943) served as a Corporal under Lt. Col. Casault with the 2nd Battalion of Rifleman (Quebec Battalion) during the Fenian Raids at Red River (mainly at Stone Fort) from May 1870 to July 1871. He was awarded the Canada General Service Medal for his service.         Albert Hoffman Smith also served as a Pay Sergeant with "H" Company Midland Battalion during the 1885 North-West Uprising (also known as the North-West Rebellion and as the North-West Resistance). He was awarded the North-West Canada Medal for his service. He was also awarded 320 acres of land in Manitoba or the Northwest Territories.
