    One image of a vehicle with 'A. Lafrance & Sons Limited - Furriers - Cold Storage Plant' painted on the side parked outside of the A. Lafrance & Sons Limited Cold Storage location on Baker Street in Sudbury, Ontario. Two men are standing between the van and the building, looking into the back of the van. The vehicle has a 1939 Ontario license plate on it with the number '66630C.'

        General note

        A. Lafrance & Sons Ltd first started as a raw fur business in Chapleau, Ontario in 1908. In 1921, the family moved to Sudbury, Ontario and Lafrance Sr. opened his first store with Revillon Frères on Station Street in Sudbury, Ontario in 1922. In 1926, the business moved to Durham Street. Edward Lafrance, Adelard Lafrance Jr., Lawrence Lafrance and Yvon Lafrance all joined their father in the family business. In April 1939, A. Lafrance & Sons opened their new fireproof storage building on Baker Street, built to hold over 6,000 garments.
